With the transition to sustainable energy in full swing, I decided to do my bit and put matter into my own hands. I created a system for dynamic charging of my electric vehicle at home.

First, I will share how I extract data from a solar inverter which opens up possibilities of smart energy management. Second, I will explain how I retrieve the electricity prices and how the pricing works in The Netherlands. Next, I will show how I trained a predictive model to predict how much electricity is available for charging. After that comes the difficult part: how to predict the car his battery state of charge and optimize on when to charge by how much power. Lastly, there is the part on how to actually control the car charger to follow the charge plan.
